New Bedford

New Bedford is known as “the whaling city” and is a city of over 100,000 people with a rich history and unique architecture. There is an active fishing industry and many immigrants have always been welcomed to this area especially of Portuguese culture.

The restoration and maintenance of many historic buildings and the historic district has paid off since the U.S. Congress designated a 13 block, 20 acre area of New Bedford as the New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park in 1996.
